General Information:
Established in 1998.
-The Intercollegiate Department of Asian American
Studies (IDAAS) serves Claremont McKenna College,
Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, Pomona College,
and Scripps College
-Offers an interdisciplinary approach to exploring the
hitherto neglected experiences of the people of Asian and
Pacific Islander heritage in the Americas
-Provide undergraduates with an understanding of the
diversity and complexity of this segment of American
society by emphasizing community work within the larger
global context
-Students may now major in Asian American Studies
majors at all five of the Claremont Colleges, and can
minor in Asian American Studies at Claremont McKenna
College and Pomona College
-Have been offering courses in Asian American Studies at
the Claremont Colleges since the 1970s
