Announcements

Dear colleagues and friends of AAAS,

We are looking forward to celebrating AAAS's 35th birthday in San Francisco  April 16-20, 2014. Our program chairs and site chairs are doing a phenomenal job of ensuring that the best papers from a diverse body of work are included in the program; and the site chairs are finalizing tours and experiences that are sure to entice us all.

Just as a reminder, our membership runs on a calendar year, so you will have to renew your membership in 2014 in order to receive membership discounts on registration.  I know that many of you renew your membership annually and we thank you for your continued support of the association.   Our annual membership includes a subscription to JAAS, discount on registration and tours, and opportunities to apply for or be nominated for various awards. Like me, I know you consider AAAS your intellectual home and I look forward to our family reunions every year.

Many of you may not know this, but we are a non profit volunteer association.  The work of the association happens because of our dedicated staff, board members (past and present), and our fantastic members who continue to support us! We strive to provide a forum where we can continue to discuss, work on, and debate the issues facing Asian American Studies and our Transnational communities. None of this is possible without you and together we can make the next 35 years of AAAS a transformative one.

Cheers and I look forward to seeing you in San Francisco!

Warmly,
Mary Yu Danico
President, AAAS
